Community Survey – Future of the Petanque Courts

The future of the petanque courts at Chimborazo Park will be decided by the survey link at the bottom of this page.

Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities (PRCF) began construction on additional petanque courts after years of growth in our club. The project was nearly complete when construction was paused to allow for additional community input.

Following three public meetings and community feedback, PRCF has presented three options for moving forward. The survey results will determine the final decision.

All three options include restroom and water fountain improvements. Options 1 and 2 also include replacement of the children’s playground equipment.

Option 1

  • Completes the new courts that are already about 85% finished.
  • Keeps the existing courts.
  • Uses funding that has already been approved and budgeted.
  • Replaces the playground equipment.

Option 2

  • Removes the nearly completed courts.
  • Renovates the existing courts, although past drainage issues are very likely to remain.
  • Replaces the playground equipment.

Option 3

  • Removes the nearly completed courts.
  • Delays any court improvements until a future park master plan and future funding become available.
  • Includes only the restroom and water fountain improvements at this time.

We encourage everyone to review the information and complete the survey if you feel you have a vested interest.  The survey to register your vote closes at 11:59 pm August 21 (Eastern Time).  Thank you for taking the time to participate in the future of Chimborazo Park.
